Construction toy, invented by … and later distributed by German company E. Reuter Baukastenfabrik 1930~1955.

The construction kit received design protection (DRGM) in the early 1930s, although it was obviously ‘copied’ from the Thuringia construction kit, for which the Thuringian Albert Liebehenz had a Reich patent. After the publication of Berbis (construction kit factory E. Reuter Blumenau in Saxony), Liebehenz sued Reuter, but lost.

Berbis seems to consist of an (earlier) uncolored version: “Berbis Modell Baukasten – Der kleine Ingenieur” and a later colored version: “Berbis: Modell – Holzbaukasten”. For the colored version, 6 boxes have been produced.

The imprint ‘Made in Germany’ on the bottom left of the cover image suggests that the box comes from pre-war production.
Available Berbis boxes

Appeantly there are 6 types of boxes, with 4 different sizes, containing: 66, 75, 107 & 126 parts.
